Whistle Group PR Account Manager
Capable and confident PR practitioner at AM level to manage a portfolio of accounts, including automotive technology

The role

The Whistle Group is seeking a capable and confident PR practitioner at Account Manager level to take up a role as one of the company’s lead account managers handling a portfolio of automotive technology accounts.

We’re based in the fizzing, bubbling cauldron of tech innovation in Oxford, where world-class IP spills out of university research. And as a young company, we’re making a name for ourselves as a go-to consultancy for scaling companies on the move.

Our clients are endlessly fascinating, helping to electrify the world, power it with nuclear fusion tech or harnessing AI and quantum computing to power new, exponential ways of doing things. And there’s no industry more on the move than the automotive sector. If you have experience of the car industry, so much the better.

We want to find somebody excited about trailblazing these frankly amazing companies. But you’ll also need some old school skill sets including competence and enthusiasm to pitch media, knowing how to find a story amid piles of complicated tech and highly capable writing and editorial skills – from drafting long form white papers to storyboarding a social video. If you have good connections with automotive press, we’ll welcome you with open arms!

You will be an experienced AM seeking new responsibilities. As we’re growing as a business, you can have an transformative impact on our business as an individual. And if you’re on it, we’ll willingly pass on responsibility and rewards, so as much as deliver five star service to our lovely clients, you’ll have the chance to influence our growth – whether business management, client growth, talent and team leadership or helping to evangelise about the agency’s capabilities.

About The Whistle Group
Whistle is an integrated full service company with a number of brands. Our sister company, Whistle Agency, is an established marketing agency providing design, branding and marketing communications services to the automotive and motorsports sectors, representing insurance companies through to Formula 1 sponsors and drivers. Whistle Ignite is a newer spin-out business focused on providing PR & communications consultancy to the technology sector, particularly scaling businesses seeking investment and/or growing market share with novel IP.

This role across both of our brands and is squarely focused on automotive technology PR, but you’ll have the opportunity to be part of a wider business with colleagues managing Formula 1 accounts to wider technology clients.

Whistle works on a hybrid footing to suit its staff preferences. For those who do not wish to work from home, we are based in central Oxford, in brand new and state-of-the-art offices. Aside from being in the heart of a young and vibrant city, our office has gym facilities and its own cafe offering indoor and al fresco all day dining.

The Responsibilities

Who Are You?
You’ll be a hybrid leader and doer, smart (grads only for this role) but enthusiastic and motivated in equal measure. You’ll also be happy with a start-up ethos, so be ready to roll your sleeves up and get stuck into a little bit of everything. Passion for automotive tech, and its capacity to solve intractable mobility problems would definitely form part of the match criteria for us – and for that reason, your most likely highly enquiring and have a sense of the word beyond. Equally, you will have some unhealthy obsession with some part of the media landscape – rolling news junkies, staunch defenders of the BBC charter or social media obsessives are welcome in equal measure
