Are you a capable account executive or account manager with a passion for sport? How would you like to swap your office for ten locations from Asia to the Americas every year as the field press officer for a compelling new sports series about to break onto the world stage?
As our representative on the ground, you’ll be responsible for interviewing athletes and team managers, actioning news content through the series’ social channels, liaising on content briefs with the host broadcaster and helping to manage a busy media centre to service the international press corps.
Between events, there is a full sports PR brief to execute – keeping the news and content flowing and building the anticipation of audiences as the calendar progresses.
The sports series is a new challenger and the PR team need to establish its credentials, socialise the excitement of its proposition, engage fans, build community and breathe life into a compelling sustainability proposition that is integral to the mission.
With the first event in Dubai in just a matter of months, we need a self-starter. You’ll need to have the confidence and experience to develop a social media content plan, the capability to script news press releases, the assurance to interview globally-recognised athletes and sufficient media relations experience to be able to service the queries and requirements of media.
Don’t worry if this is your first foray into sport. PRs with disciplinary competence from corporate to consumer will be taught the ropes, but don’t come a knocking unless you have a passion for sport and a desire to travel the world.
Alongside this new brief, we’d want you to also contribute to Whistle Agency’s wider sports portfolio, including management of our Formula 1 activation programmes and driver PR.
About The Whistle Group
Whistle is a group of three allied businesses. Our sister company, Whistle Agency, is an established full service agency providing design, branding and marketing communications services to the automotive and motorsports sectors, representing insurance companies through to Formula 1 sponsors and drivers. Whistle Ignite is a newer spin-out business focused on providing PR & communications consultancy to the technology sector, particularly scaling businesses seeking investment and/or growing market share with novel IP. Whistle Group’s third business is Same Day Social Films, a video production agency specialising in fixed cost film and production of short shelf life films for social media.
Whistle Group is now an entirely remote business, but we meet monthly for an all-agency day in various locations and Whistle Ignite operates an optional weekly office day in central Oxford.
Who Are You?
A graduate with a minimum of three years’ public relations experience in agency or a relevant in-house position. You’ll be confident and willing to work remotely in the field and to travel extensively overseas (travel 30%). You’ll have prior experience of media, social and television as a bonus. If you speak a language, that’d be very much to your advantage. We welcome applicants from all locations in the UK and overseas, but fluency in written English is a must.
Benefits
We’ll pay you a decent % more than you are currently earning. Alongside a pay rise, we offer medicare, pension, up to 26 days holiday and various salary sacrifice schemes, a contribution to home office costs and Apple hardware.
